Indian Silverbill (Lonchura malabarica)


Indian Silverbill (Lonchura malabarica), also called White throated Silverbill or White throated Munia. Locally(Gujarati) called "ટપુસિચુ" This bird is a common breeding resident.  It frequents dry open scrub, fallow land and cultivation, sometimes near water. Although mainly found on the plains,It feeds mainly on seeds, but also takes insects and has been known to visit nectar bearing flowers.

Oriental Magpie Robin (Daiyad) (Copsychus saularis)

The Oriental Magpie Robin (Copsychus saularis) is a small 19 c.m. long,locally(gujarati) called "દૈયડ". They are distinctive black and white birds with a long tail that is held upright as they forage on the ground or perch conspicuously.They are common birds in urban gardens as well as forests.

Brahminy Myna or Brahminy Starling (Sturnia pagodarum)



The Brahminy Myna (બ્રાહમણી કાબર) or Brahminy Starling (Sturnia pagodarum) is a member of the starling family of birds. It is creamy orange bird with a black cap and a slight crest. They are usually seen in pairs or small flocks in open habitats

The Baya Weaver (Ploceus philippinus) (સુગરી)  are seed eating Weaverbirds with rounded conical bills and are closely related to finches. They are known for their elaborately woven nests. The Baya weaver is a gregarious bird and breeds in colonies that can be found in scattered trees in open country.

The Purple Sunbird (female) (Cinnyris asiaticus) is a small sunbird.They feed mainly on nectar by hovering like a hummingbird but also take insects especially when feeding young.

Wire Tailed Swallow

Today I saw a couple of Wire tailed Swallow just out side of my home. The tail of wire tailed swallow has 2 wires, which is why they are named wire tailed swallow.
